Converter also refers to a rotary converter, phase converter, static converter, phase conversion, or even some of the brand names like rotorphase, phasemaster, phase-a-matic or convert-a-phase. It is a synonymous term for phase conversion. As a generic term converter could mean phasemaster or a rotary converter referring to a product or process.
A static converter is simply a bank of capacitors that help energize a three phase motor. The static in static converter means that once the system is started the static converter is taken out of the system and not used. A rotary converter or
phase converter stays in the electrical system for overload relief.
The term voltage stabilizer in the world of a rotary converter refers to a problem associated with rotary converter but not necessarily with a phase converter referring to a static converter. The rotating field of a rotary converter produces a high voltage leg of the three phase system. Some applications need to have that voltage stabilizer. A voltage stabilizer is not necessary with the use of a convert-a-phase rotary converter because of the technology it uses. A phase converter that has a rotating member and used tap-able capacitors can be applied so that the voltage stabilizer is not necessary. The convert-a-phase rotary converter can be extremely functional with less capacitors and the dropping of them can act like a voltage stabilizer.
